When it comes to finding a “new you” within your fitness journey, we all know that, while working out is important, the food you are eating also plays an significant role in your overall success. But let’s be honest – between going to the gym, working, and balancing other aspects of life, it can be difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Stress no more because this is where meal prep comes in! Meal prepping makes it so much easier to maintain the healthy lifestyle your after and to get the payoff from all those hours at the gym. This cuts down on time, stress, and having to overthink what you’ll be cooking that day.

Meal prepping doesn’t have to be stressful or time consuming; when you make this a habit it can actually be your secret weapon to feeling your best and removing what can seem like a huge mountain to climb. No matter what your goals are, meal prepping can be used as the key to success and reaching your goals.

Here are 4 steps to make meal prepping easy, efficient and something that you look forward to:

#1 Plan ahead

The first step to making your meal prep is making a plan! Plan out for our week what you’ll be eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snacks. This way your prep and shopping will be nice and easy. Pro Tip – there are TONS of social media creators that share meal prep ideas and your personal trainer can also help you plan out what a week should look like in terms of your diet.

#2 Batch cook

Cooking in bulk makes meal prep so much easier! Make larger batches of your favorite protein, veggies and grains and portion them out into smaller containers. This is just like how you used to pack your lunch as a kid… and your future self will be so grateful everything is ready to grab and go!

#3 Pick the right tools

One of the main things that makes this so easy is some storage containers. These can be used to portion out your meals to exactly what you need to fuel your body. Other tools such as an instant pot or slow cooker can also be helpful, especially when we are batch cooking.

#4 Keep it simple

Don’t worry this isn’t Chopped or Hell’s Kitchen, it’s ok to keep it simple! Throw together meals that you enjoy that have protein, fiber and healthy fats. This doesn’t have to be perfect, make it nice and easy that way it’s faster and more convenient for you!

Remember, what you use to fuel your body has just as much of an impact as breaking a sweat at the gym. Following these 4 simple steps will make you a meal prep machine that can’t be stopped from hitting the goals you made for yourself!
